Class KR

Class KR

The new standards are stricter than before.
Kakimoto Racing's new products must continue to be top-class products worthy of the Kakimoto Racing name. There is no need to compromise.。
"Class KR" is a special exhaust sustem for discerning users.。

With the new standards now in place, we have had to take another serious look at our manufacturing.
And we have been forced to reaffirm our traditional development concept.
"No matter what era or regulations, we want to continue to make the things we really want to make." This is the spirit of Kakimoto Racing that should never be forgotten.
Even though my car is subject to the new regulations, I don't want to compromise on my exhaust selection.
The target users of the Class KR are those kinds of users.

"Make your daily driving experience even more exciting."
"I want people to take more pride in their cars."

It goes without saying that we must meet the new standards (pre-certification system) that are stricter than before.
But that should not be the primary development concept.
The main development concept was to create a tuning exhaust system that exudes a sense of class worthy of the "Kakimoto Kai" name, allowing you to enjoy the true pleasures of exhaust system replacement in terms of "performance," "sound," and "looks (quality)" just like before.

The Kakimoto sound is still alive and well.

Exhaust system that comply with the new regulations. When selecting a product, one of the most important things to check is the "sound" after the exhaust system is replaced.
Acceleration noise of 82db or less is exactly the same as a genuine exhaust system!?
In reality, users of vehicles subject to the new regulations probably start their exhaust system selection with disappointment like this.
We were also a little worried about how it would turn out until we started development.
There were days when time passed in vain due to the dilemma between the development staff, who thought, "We don't want to make boring exhaust systems. We can't sell such things," and the staff, who thought, "We just want to release new products for cars subject to the new regulations as soon as possible."
However, as we proceeded with development, we were surprised to find that, although it was certainly quieter than the previous exhaust system, the sound was surprisingly satisfying.
The new regulation requires that acceleration noise be kept below 82db, but the requirement of close-range exhaust noise below 96db remains unchanged even after the new regulation.
In fact, for one development vehicle model, it was possible to keep the close-range exhaust noise close to 90db even while keeping acceleration noise below 82db.
"At this volume, we can create a sound that will make you fully enjoy the exhaust system change!"
This conviction became a ray of hope for the staff.
Enjoying the sound after replacing your exhaust system naturally comes down to the "volume," but what's more important is the "sound quality."
No matter how loud the volume is, if the sound quality is poor, the sound coming from the exhaust system will not be pleasant at all; far from being enjoyable, it will be unpleasant. Even if the volume is just a little higher than the stock, if the sound quality is good, you can still fully enjoy the sound of the replaced exhaust system.
In fact, "sound creation" is the development concept of HERT SUS 90, which is the origin of Kakimoto exhaust, and it is Kakimoto's specialty that has been passed down to the successive series. In the early days of Kakimoto, "sound quality" was considered more important than "volume" and was an important point!
Our "sound creation" is born from our many experiences, unique sensibilities, and above all, an uncompromising desire to create something good.
Thus, "sound creation" proceeded under the strict condition of an acceleration noise level of 82db or less.
While just getting the volume to meet the standard was extremely difficult, we listened to prototypes and, if they didn't work, we remade them from scratch, a process that was repeated countless times.
No matter what regulations we are under, the Kakimoto Kai sound will never disappear. We hope you will continue to enjoy the Kakimoto Kai sound to your heart's content in your beloved car.

That sound is proof of its performance. It achieves increased power and torque across the entire range.

"Sound is performance." That is what Kakimoto Kai has always said.
However, now, a question naturally arises: "The exhaust systems for vehicles that are subject to the new regulations will become quieter, but what will happen to their performance?"
Certainly, if you simply focus on lowering the volume, the risk of poor sound quality and excessive back pressure increases. In such a situation, it will be difficult to obtain power. And, at worst, the sound quality will become noisy.
"Sound is performance". To repeat, the "sound" in this catchphrase does not refer to volume, but rather to sound quality.
If it is possible to reduce the volume with the appropriate exhaust pressure and exhaust efficiency for the vehicle, a beautiful, clear tone can be achieved.
Kakimoto's "sound creation" is always linked to the "thorough pursuit of performance", which is the basis of Kakimoto's exhaust development.

We believe that even a quiet muffler can provide sufficient performance.
However, and although we had anticipated this to some extent, we faced many hardships in order to realize the theory that "a beautiful, clear tone = optimal performance" under the condition of keeping acceleration noise to 82db or less.
Class KR uses a muffler with a larger capacity than conventional products.
As a result, depending on the vehicle model, the space for the muffler is quite tight.
So this time, the spotlight was on an optimal layout and internal structure design that could deliver maximum performance even in such a limited space.
The internal structure makes use of a combination of the unique internal combustion engine structure and power reducer structure that have been used up until now, as well as a reactive structure that uses a new type of partition plate that achieves similar exhaust efficiency.
In this way, we carefully set up each model, repeatedly making prototypes and testing them, and came up with the final specifications that were the epitome of our finest workmanship.

Although we ended up making our customers wait a long time, we didn't want to compromise.
First and foremost, we aimed to create something that would satisfy us, and above all, our customers.
We are confident that the final product will be well worth the wait.
Power, torque and other characteristics vary depending on the vehicle model, and sometimes even on the individual vehicle, but as an example, for the Z34, maximum output has increased by 11.7ps and maximum torque has increased by 9.0Nm. The torque rises sharply from 2000rpm, achieving an increase in power and torque across the entire range.
With performance worthy of the Kakimoto Kai exhaust name, this Class KR is an all-round model that can be enjoyed from city driving to mountain passes and circuits.

The moment you start the engine, the sound quality will make you want to rev it.
When idling, it is as quiet as a genuine product.
Once you start driving, you can fully appreciate the benefits of changing the exhaust system, with a beautiful sound.
When driving around town, the pleasant exhaust sound will make conversation in the car lively.
On slight curves and mountain roads, the sound and performance respond just as much as you press the accelerator.

We want you to feel a sense of unity with your beloved car that you could never experience with a normal car.
Times have changed, and regulations have changed and become stricter, but the feelings of car enthusiasts remain the same.

Ride the sound. Ride the "G". Ride the "KAI".

It is our spirit that fully responds to their wishes.

The historic double diffuser tail design has been completely redesigned. The titanium face makes it even more Spartan!

Here, I would like to introduce some of our particular style preferences.

Class KR Double diffuser tailpipe
The tailpipe design can be said to be the face of the exhaust system.
Some people may think that it is only a matter of looks, but the tail part is also an important functional part that has a big impact on performance. The origin of Kakimoto Kai exhausts, HYPER 80, HERT SUS 90, and Kakimoto.R, which has elevated Kakimoto Kai exhausts to a position that can be said to be synonymous with high-performance and high-sound quality exhaust systems. The "double diffuser tail" used in those exhaust systems is an example of this.
The two layers of air surrounding this "double diffuser tail", namely the high-temperature exhaust air from the engine and the low-pitched outside air that surrounds the tail, create a sound-adjusting effect and produce high-quality deep bass. In addition, the secondary air from the outside air brought about by the double pipe not only promotes exhaust, but also acts as an air-cooling fan and protects the bumper from burns.
The Class KR also uses this "double diffuser tail."
It is not a direct conversion.
While retaining the conventional structure and functional characteristics, the tail end has a curvature radius of 2.5mm or more, giving it a completely new design. In addition, slash cuts have been applied to match the body lines of current vehicles (with some exceptions).
The tail end has a curvature radius of 2.5mm or more, which gives it a spartan yet elegant look. In addition, the special coating tail (patented (patent number: 4691707)) produces a titanium-like burnt color despite being made of stainless steel, further accentuating the beauty of the car.

I would also like to touch on the attention to detail that has been paid to parts other than the tail that will not be visible once the helmet is attached.

The body is made entirely of stainless steel, combining beauty and durability.
Expensive, precise, and beautiful, it is Tig welded.
It is such an artistic finish that you will want to pick it up and look at it before putting it on.

Sound, performance, quality. All in all, it is a product worthy of the Kakimoto brand name.
Try it out and experience the presence of this top-class product for yourself. And we hope you will use it to accompany your beloved car for a long time.

What are the new regulations for exhaust systems?

Here, I would like to introduce some of our particular style preferences.

The new regulations on exhaust systems are of interest. What are they?

The sound volume regulations apply to cars produced on or after April 1, 2010. (Incidentally, cars produced before that date can still be fitted with the previous JASMA certified products.) The close-range exhaust noise level itself remains at 96db or less, the same as the previous regulations, but new items have been added, which are explained below.

Part 1: "Prohibition of structures that allow noise reduction mechanisms to be easily removed"

In other words, the volume standards must be met even without an easily removable inner silencer.
So, if you have installed a exhaust system that complies with the new regulations, but want to make it even quieter, can you not use an inner silencer in addition?
In this case, if the exhaust system has been certified by JQR or similar without using an inner silencer, there should be no problem with using one.

Part 2: "Acceleration noise level to be 82db or less"

Before the new regulations, car exhaust systems met safety standards as long as their close-range exhaust noise (volume measured under specified conditions with the car stopped) was below the standard (96dB).
In the case of exhaust systems for cars that are subject to the new regulations, in addition to the close-range exhaust noise, there is a new requirement that acceleration noise (the volume measured when the car is running under specified conditions) be below a standard (82dB), and it is now required that the exhaust system display a message that these standards are met.

*Kakimoto Kai products are labeled as having their performance confirmed by a registered performance confirmation organization (such as JQR).

Owners of cars affected by the new regulations are likely to say, "The regulations for exhaust systems have become stricter, so I will no longer be able to enjoy changing the exhaust system on my beloved car like I have in the past. Won't exhaust systems that comply with the new regulations make no noise and have the performance you can't expect? It's not fair!" And, first of all, isn't it just incredibly complicated?

It is true that the new regulations are stricter than the previous ones, and even just staying within those regulations is extremely difficult.
Because it is a difficult task, if we proceed with development with the emphasis on "prioritizing compliance with the stricter regulations as quickly as possible," the result will be an "unfun exhaust system."
"No matter how strict the regulations, we don't want people to compromise on the tuning of their beloved cars." This is something Kakimoto strongly believes, no matter what the era.
"We want to make sure that all car owners, regardless of the year of their car, are satisfied with their car and can be proud of it."
"We want to provide a scarf that will make that dream come true."
Just because regulations have become stricter doesn't mean that you can't replace your exhaust system. You can still replace your exhaust system just like before.
Since its inception, Kakimoto has remained committed to "Making exhaust system replacement fun."
The Class KR exhaust system is made to fully incorporate these features and is compliant with the new regulations.
