What kind of "regulations" are required to dominate the streets? Is it enough to just meet the conditions commonly referred to as "quiet and legal"? Kakimoto Kai ponders.
Of course, to enjoy exhaust tuning on the street, it is essential that it is legal. However, that is only the minimum first step, and if you can't expect an increase in power, what's the point of tuning the exhaust system?
The best parts of exhaust tuning are sound, improved performance, quality, and looks. Unless all of these are well balanced, it cannot be the best tuned exhaust system. Recently, there has been an increase in quiet, bullet-shaped, legal exhaust systems, but one cannot help but wonder how many of them actually meet these requirements.

So in 2006, Kakimoto Kai proposed a new regulation, "06&R." First, to meet the minimum standards of legality and safety, the muffler was designed and developed to comply with the JASMA standard (which will also be applicable after 2006), which is a sign of safety. However, if the design was focused only on keeping the sound volume within the JASMA standard, the exhaust system would simply be "safe."
Kakimoto Kai was determined to create a tuning muffler that complies with JASMA standards and is unique to Kakimoto Kai, allowing you to enjoy all the pleasures of exhaust tuning.

Focusing on the street, it brings out maximum performance. It achieves low and mid-speed torque, increased power across the entire range, and quick response.

In conventional bullet-shaped mufflers, the exhaust sound is difficult to eliminate due to the structure in order to obtain peak power, and the volume is inevitably loud. In order to comply with the legal volume restrictions, it was necessary to install an inner silencer. While the inner silencer has the advantage of being able to easily suppress the volume, it also has the disadvantage of causing a significant drop in power and torque due to an extreme increase in exhaust pressure.
This means that even if you go through the trouble of replacing the muffler, you will not be able to enjoy the muffler's original specifications safely on public roads.
Recently, quiet bullet-type mufflers have been increasing, but in most cases, the priority is simply to reduce the volume, at the expense of power and torque. Because they are bound by the law, the fun of exhaust tuning is sacrificed.
"If it doesn't increase power, it's not a tuned muffler!" That's what Kakimoto Kai thinks.
Even if you simply say it's a muffler that produces power, most bullet-shaped mufflers tend to focus only on peak power and neglect the mid-low speed range.
With such a muffler, you cannot feel the power increase unless you rev ​​the engine all the way up to high speeds, which makes it difficult to handle on the street. What is important on the street is an increase in power across the entire range from low to high speeds, and an increase in torque at low and mid-speeds.
Developing a muffler that is bullet-shaped, quiet, and powerful is extremely difficult, but Kakimoto Kai also took on the near impossible task of increasing power across the entire range, increasing torque at low and mid-range speeds, and providing quick response in order to dominate the street.
"We want to create something that satisfies our customers." With that desire in mind, we conducted repeated research, development and testing without compromise, and as a result, we adopted Kakimoto's unique internal combustion engine structure and power reducer structure inside the main silencer. And this made it possible to overcome these conflicting challenges.
This new internal structure adjusts the expansion and contraction of exhaust pressure within one silencer, allowing it to be maintained properly and precisely so that the exhaust pressure does not rise or fall too high, resulting in a significant increase in power and torque. This special structure was adopted in the first stage of the Regu. series, Regu.92-Z and Regu.96-R, and has been highly praised. It has been upgraded to the Regu.06&R and continues to be adopted.
The performance of an exhaust system is not determined solely by the structure of the main muffler.
The individual designs of the main pipe diameter, sub-muffler structure, and pipe layout, as well as the overall balance of all of these, become important.
We test each and every model multiple times to select the best pipe diameter, sub-muffler shape, and balance of each part.

One of the things you care about most when choosing a muffler is the "Sound".
To enjoy street riding, it is essential to have a legal sound level. However, if you replace the muffler and there is no difference from the original muffler, you will not be able to enjoy the sound, which is one of the best parts of the bike. That's why Kakimoto Kai proposes a close-range exhaust noise level of 92db (without an inner silencer).
What is Kakimoto Kai's 92dB?

The shape is a popular bullet type. The adoption of a special Kakimoto-Kai original power reducer structure has made it possible to make the muffler more compact. The design is slim and racy, and does not feel heavy. The diagonal flip-up makes it very impressive.
The tail, which gives the impression of being a titanium, is specially coated with a rainbow color that resembles the burnt color of titanium (patented -- appl. No.4691707).
The Regu.06&R uses a thin tail pipe in consideration of the weight, so if it is made of normal stainless steel, the stainless steel will inevitably burn as you ride, and the unique shine of stainless steel will be lost. However, by adopting a special tail pipe this time, we have succeeded in maintaining the beautiful shine for a longer period of time. You can get the look of titanium at the price of a stainless steel pipe!!
Not only the shiny main pipe and muffler, but even the stays and flanges are made of high-quality stainless steel. The welds are Tig welded, which creates a beautiful scale pattern. The quality has been greatly improved.
